2 down…

We caught another squirrel today. Took him on drive to the country.
Didn’t another squirrel wander through the yard shortly after returning home.
Time to re-set the trap.
First one I caught with pineapple scraps, second one with peanut butter on bread. I think the peanut butter will be the first choice in bait for us.

Front porch
Posted by doggonedmysteries
The dahlias on the front porch are continuing to bloom. As are the rest of the flowers. Lucky for them that I have, so far, remembered to water them daily.

Roses are…are…aaachooo!
Posted by doggonedmysteries
Surprise, surprise. My allergy season has hit. All those roses in bloom around here have me coughing, sneezing, and wheezing. My eyes are watering and itchy. Oh yeah, fun time!
Don’t get me wrong, I love roses, but they don’t love me.
Quick, run out and buy stock in tissues.

How does your garden grow?
Posted by doggonedmysteries
My potted garden is growing well. I have peppers coming on my pepper plants, tomatoes on the tomato plants, and blossoms all over my little cucumber plant. The eggplant hasn’t any blossoms yet but I don’t expect them for a while.
Now if only we can keep the squirrels away from them, we might get to have some fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and eggplants.
Anyone have any fool proof squirrel chasing tactics?
Crash my yard please.

I’m hoping that, after I run a couple of errands today, I can do some actual yard work. I need to weed the gardens and get the mulch in before there is nothing there but weeds.
I’d like to transplant a few more things from the pond area so maybe I can get someone in to rototill that area flat. I’d love to get started on revamping the yard so we can get some use out of it.
Oh, if only yard crashers would show up at my door and work a miracle! 😉 My yard is in dire need.
It would be nice to get it to where The Curmudgeon could come outside and enjoy it. Or, perhaps to where I can find some sanctuary from him when he is driving me crazy.

My enabler enabled me again
Posted by doggonedmysteries
G and I went shopping yesterday after I got my haircut.
We shouldn’t have gone to Pier One where they had this on sale:
I’ve wanted one like this for many, many years. She and the clerk were both ‘go ahead and buy it–it’s on sale 25% off!’ This picture was taken of it on my kitchen table–yeah, I bought it.
Then we stopped at Lowes where I found this:
Another item I’ve been looking for for years…and it was super cheap.
Go ahead buy it!
I did.
Enabled again.
Some bruises and clean dogs
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I truly dislike this “easier to use” format. It is not.
Anyway, everything I wanted to get done yesterday? Nope. The dogs got baths. Gavin didn’t care and he really likes the massage spray on the hand held shower head. Lucy just wanted it to be over with. They both look good and smell great.
The Curmudgeon took a tumble off the back steps and thought he may have cracked a couple of ribs–he’s done it before. He sat around for a couple of hours moaning and groaning about it rather than do anything. I finally told him he was going to our Doctor’s ER and dragged his sorry butt there.
X-rays were taken no ribs were broken. He’s only bruised. 3 hours out of our afternoon shot to hell.
Gorgeous full moon. So lovely that I called G to come out and see it.

I love that sound!

What sound is that you ask? The sound of rapidly melting snow! YAY!
Soon we’ll have green grass and flowers and be able to go for walks!

Guess what was in my garden
Posted by doggonedmysteries
We’ve had a little visitor the last few days. She’s quite enamored of the red flowers in the garden. Too bad I can’t get a picture of her, but she’s too fast for my little camera.
If you want to see what I saw go here: http://nationalzoo.si.edu/scbi/migratorybirds/featured_photo/bird.cfm?pix=Ruby-throated_Hummingbird
You all have a good one!

Lots of work ahead
Posted by doggonedmysteries
I have my work cut out for me.
Lots of weeds to pull and transplants to do.
This is just a small part of what I have to work on.
You all have a good one!

To AC or not to AC… if he’s warm we AC
Posted by doggonedmysteries
We had the house opened up all day. It was so nice to have fresh air and no AC drone. Now the AC is back on because The Curmudgeon is warm. I was warm earlier and he griped when I turned the ceiling fan up a notch.
I’m feeling a double standard here.
I am so willing to pay someone to cut all the vines down in the back corner of the yard. I am exhausted from filling two trash barrels full, and there’s so much more to do.
