I’m well on my way to holy crap I can’t move I’m so tired!
My back is complaining as are my knees.
Lucy was not happy with me even though I gave her the entire morning full of attention and throwitthrowitthrowit!
The book cases and my desk are empty of books.
The boxes are piling up in the cellar where they aren’t in the painter’s way.
The work is grueling and my back is making me pay for it.
Up early again…Lucy needs to stop this, except the painter will be early every day it takes him to finish. UGH! I do not do mornings well at all.
I must have run up and down the stairs, and basement stairs a hundred times today.
Lucy had me up very early and two cups of coffee were like nothing to get me going.
We had a buyer here for little things, Rick and I were supposed to take the long guns to a dealer but the buyer after seeing the guns, asked us for two days, he’d give us a better price.
We had a painter come in to give us an estimate for a quick paint job and he says he’ll start on Monday.
This means we have to pack stuff and stash it so he can have access to all the downstairs walls.
Therefore, I spent the rest of my day taking down, cleaning, wrapping, and stacking all my framed art work on the table in the basement. Tomorrow I’ll be up and down a ladder removing all the picture hooks, nails, and screws.
Lucy was pretty good as long as I gave her frequent breaks from the crate and plenty of attention when I did.
The attic looks amazing compared to what it was before. I worked in the back bedroom sifting through boxes of papers–shocking what all he hoarded up there. I swear he must’ve brought home boxes of old bills and things from his Mom’s house, I keep finding more.
I called the deputy coroner (who was the investigator we met in the room when Jay died) to ask him WTF was with all the things the insurance company needed to have sent to them along with the filled out forms. He told me to send what I had and put his name and number down as who they should contact. They were asking for things they didn’t need and he was shocked they’d asked for a second death certificate.
I was too tired to cook so I had a macaroni salad for my dinner.
I need cake.
I am exhausted but with Jevata’s crew and her help a major dent was made in the clear out of this house.
All of Jay’s clothes are now donated to the local men’s shelter. Which means not just what was in his room but the ton of clothes he had hanging in the basement.
Much of the attic has been sorted through into throw, sell, and keep items.
Two bedrooms have been mostly cleared.
There’s plenty more to do but at least we can see a light at the end of the tunnel. You don’t clear out 46 years worth of stuff in a few hours.
Lucy had a great time at her Uncle Rick’s doggie day camp. She came home all worn out. She sure does love that she can run around the circle of their house. All she gets to do at home is back and forth.
While the Project Move crew is here tomorrow, Lucy will be off visiting her Uncle Rick and Aunt Sue.
I hear both of them are looking forward to her “day camp” visit. (I didn’t start calling it that, Rick did. LOL!)
I think she’ll have a good time since she seems to have already wrapped the two of them around her little dewclaws.
I’ve packed her day camp bag with two of her squeaky stuffed toys and a container of her dry dog food so they have treats for her. I’ve been treating her with her dry food lately rather than her cookies because she just doesn’t stop. If she had cookies instead of dry food, she’d look like a sausage for sure.
Rick will load her wire crate from my van into his car and she should be all set for the day over there.
Meanwhile Jevata and her crew will begin the job of getting this house ready for sale.
So, I’d filled out a form, enclosed a death certificate, and mailed it out to the life insurance company on the policy I didn’t know he had.
I get back yet another form requesting:
1. Another copy of his death certificate
2. Copy of police report/accident report/EMT report.
3. Copy of medical examiner’s complete investigative report
4. Copy of the autopsy and toxicology report (if available)
5. Copy of hospital records (if applicable)
6. Signed health History and HIPPA Authorization forms
7. if accident was due to a fall….complete the fall questionnaire (2 pages) and return with health history and HIPPA forms.
8. Copy of his account statement for the month of his death.
*note: Upon claim review by carrier, additional documentation may be requested.
I thought I’d spend today keeping Lucy amused and getting a few things done around the house that I can do.
I hunted all over the basement and back porch for a switch plate cover from the kitchen that I swear I’d “put it somewhere safe” when I took it off.
Didn’t find it and knowing there was also a plate missing from my bedroom I decided to go pick them up along with a new latch for the antique wardrobe I plan to take with me.
The problem with the new latch is it cannot go where the old one was since the wood is damaged on the edge of the shelf where they had it. However, the shelf below is fine. My biggest problem is my crappy eyesight and trying to get the latch put in, I do not see well enough to do it.
(Bangs head on wall.)
After several attempts to post last night, I finally went to bed without a post.
Yesterday, I met with Jevata, of Project Move, who is running the clean out, sales, and donations of my household. We are set to begin on Monday.
I cleared all the DVDs out from under the TV and put the ones I want to keep in a couple of boxes and put all the rest in bags for her to sell. Today I had my neighbor go through the bags to see if she wanted any of the movies for her family.
I love how much less cluttered the house is already and that is without Jevata and her crew working on it.
I invited G over to share the ribs I had cooking in the crock pot all day. We had a good dinner and enjoyed some wine while sitting in the yard to watch the gorgeous moon rise. We won’t see it tonight because we have clouds and rain.
So today after a couple days of running here and there to get things done, it was time for me just one place to go after a morning of throwitthrowitthrowit!
Or so I thought.
The mailman arrived early for a change, he delivered this non-descriptive envelope from some place I’d never heard of, turns out it’s the insurance form I needed to fill out for the accidental life insurance.
Filled that out, enclosed a death certificate, sealed, stamped, and addressed the return envelope. About then, my appointment for my haircut was fast approaching.
I decided to take the letter to the nearest postal sub station and get it right out in the mail.
Love what MaryAnn does to my hair! It is short and sassy and easy to take care of every day.
What a lift to my day…and it’s back to throwitthrowitthrowit!!
Lucy got to play with her Uncle Rick today. She sure does think he’s fun.
I thought he got all the ammo out of the house but after he left, I found more. Geez.
I put the ‘for sale’ sign on Jay’s truck today. It is still in dire need of a bath…any volunteers? His lovely blue Dodge Dakota looks a mess but all it needs is a good bath. This time I wrote down the mileage in case anyone asks. I’m tired of having to run out and start it to check. I’d written it down before, but on a scrap of paper, which I managed to lose, this time I wrote it in my notebook.
The only pic I could find of it on my computer.
After seeing that Social Security put my check in our joint account that I am trying to close I started my day off with a visit there.
It took longer to be seen than it did to have the automatic deposit switched to my new account.
Next stop, my Credit Union to deposit the two checks from the life insurance company. And while there I had the joint account closed, his credit card closed, and the loan closed. Everything is paid off and I am now on my own accounts.
Made a quick stop at the store to pick up the forgotten cleaning supplies.
When I got home, I wrote the check for my health insurance and paid off two hospital bills in Jay’s name.
I am debating paying the quarterly payment on the county taxes or the entire thing. The first payment isn’t due until 5/31…. hmmmmm. I could be out of here by then anyway.
Once I finished with everything I had to do it became a non-stop until dinner game of throwitthrowitthrowit!
Momma lefted me alone for HOURS!
