Loving Jim Hensons creature shop challenge

My new favorite TV show! I think from the beginning I’ve been cheering Melissa on. She is such a cutie and her work is marvelous. I am so glad she’s in the final four.

I’m hoping to learn a few things while watching the show that will translate into better props for our Halloween displays.

You all have a good one! And check out the show…

Lighting candles for our neighbors in the midwest

Tornadoes have once again ripped through several states and cities. Our thoughts are with our neighbors. May the days get easier, the storms fewer, and may relief, shelter, love and comfort come quickly to you all.

Yep, you guessed it…

HPIM3729You all have a good one!

We have a new roof! Jimmy, the new roofer, promised me no more leaks.  I told him I’d hold him to that. He’ll be the first person I call if we have any water dripping.

I can’t tell you what a relief it is to have that taken care of at last. We had years and years of our old roofer patching and making the old slate roof last another year. We just couldn’t afford to replace the entire roof at his prices.

The new roofer is more reasonable in price and faster too.

No more leaks! That means I have fewer excuses to not get my painting done.

You all have a good one!

Gone fishing…well, not yet but on Monday!

HPIM2116Yes, I plan to sneak away on Monday and go fishing. I don’t like to go on the weekends because too many people invade the park.  Maybe I’ll even fly my kite.

You all have a good one!

Welcome to my circus

One of those days where if I hadn’t had a chance to get out of the house I may have later been picked up by the men in the white coats. Even the dogs were getting on my last nerve.

Had the pleasure of my dearest friend’s company for lunch and a market stroll. Afterwards I felt somewhat normal.

Of course, my normal is everyone else’s nightmare. Our household is a total circus on a good day and I am the ringmaster.

I so need decent weather so I can get out and work in the yard. The pond is so full of leaves and water I could easily hide a body in there… hmmm.

HPIM2679I iz innocent Don’t believe da Momma.

No roof yet

The roofer’s son had his gall bladder out yesterday morning. We had sustained wind at 35 mph all day. In no way did I expect any roofing to be done. It will get done when it gets done. I have faith in this man.

Cardiologist appointment went very well. Cholesterol level is excellent and all else is great. I don’t go back to see him again for six months.

Had KD Lang and Jane Sidberry’s duet ‘Calling All Angels’ running through my head all day. Don’t ask me why. So here’s an ear worm for you today.

You all have a good one!

HPIM3539Red sky at night….

Short note this time.

Since I usually write these in the wee hours of the morning, and I know I won’t be up in the wee hours this night. I am popping in early to leave this note.

Today I am off to my cardiologist (morning appointment and I don’t do mornings…) While I’m gone, the roofer will be working on the roof. His son didn’t have pancreatitis, he had gall stones which at 7 a.m. they removed.

Now I’m off to finish washing my dinner dishes and taking the dogs out so I can get to bed early and make it to my doctor appointment on time.

You all have a good one!

Something pretty to start your day.

What a day

No roof work yesterday. Our roofer’s son is in the hospital with pancreatitis. We can wait, his son is more important.

Instead, I ran to the vet’s office for a bag of Patty’s special kidney diet food. To the pet store for dog cookies sans protein. And then to the grocery store for a few needed items.

Gavin and Patty love their Old Mother Hubbard Cookies. Now they have a bunch of new ones for the pups to try, they are happy campers.

The Curmudgeon tried to help carry some grocery bags from the front door to the kitchen, but for some reason, lost his balance and down he went, whacking his head in the process. He had a totally shit day going anyway, might as well top it off with a real doozy.

I gave him an ice pack and continued on my way to unloading my van and bringing everything inside. Then I put all the stuff away. I think it’s time for a nice spiced rum and coke.

You all have a good one!

HPIM3580Did Someone say cookies???????!!!

No more raindrops keep falling on my head?!

The old roof is well over 100 years old. It is slate. It is shot. It has patches on patches. The pictures this young roofer came down with on his phone to show The Curmudgeon were downright scary.

Today we get a new roof. Yay!

Not looking forward to the morning, I’ll get to wake up to sound of someone pounding on our roof. Not the most pleasant way to wake up, but better than some of my mornings.

Ah, yes. A new roof, good for at least thirty years. No more patches. May this please be the end of our leaks. What a pleasure in the days to come to not have to put buckets under drips. A dream come true.

You all have a good one…I think I’m going to need a lot more coffee.

coffee gimme

Getting ready for the Pennwriters conference again!

I didn’t go last year because Pittsburgh seemed too far away from The Curmudgeon when he was doing so poorly.  Lancaster is much closer to home so I feel safe in going this year.

I had to buy new clothes, I haven’t lost any weight, rather I gained even more.  That sucks. My doctor says it is the medications I’m on that aren’t helping me with weight loss. Duh Doc. However, with the stent, the high blood pressure from stress, and all it isn’t safe for me to stop taking them. I might be able to stop taking them if I lost weight and could cut my stress levels down. Oh, ya think?? WTF do you think I have been trying to do? Vicious cycle.

Yeah, cut my stress levels down. Surely you jest? You try living with The Curmudgeon. I love the man but his MS is a stress level mine field. From one day to the next, we have no idea how bad his day will be. I haven’t had a break in two years.

I know I won’t go to Pittsburgh next year, but I think G and I might try for four days at a beach somewhere. I can’t go two years without a break again. If I hit the lottery, I think I’ll set up a MS caregivers vacation timeshare somewhere.

You all have a good one!

seaI wish I knew who took this photo so I could credit them.

I didn’t take this picture.
